Austria's first Addiction Prevention Strategy
Austria’s first national Addiction Prevention Strategy - the final result of an intensive preparatory process. The goal and purpose of the Strategy is to provide a guideline for all stakeholders in this field, linking the socio-scientific state of the art in the disciplines concerned with medical and psychosocial practice, and with all relevant actors in the areas of politics and administration.
Rather than laying down a list of detailed measures, the Strategy aims at defining a common social approach to the issue of addiction, with clearly set goals and a framework that provides orientation for the development and implementation of measures at various levels and in various areas of responsibility. It thus serves as an umbrella under which all activities, measures and developments are united. It is based, in particular, on a preparatory Delphi survey published on the website of the Federal Ministry of Health, and can be used as a reference document.
